ParksCoolwood Wildlife ParkCoolwood is situated on the outskirts of Killarney town, on a 47 acre complex. 7 acres of it is a wildlife park and the remaining acres are a wildlife sanctuary. A delight for all ages, with many unusual and colourful creatures including marmoset monkeys, wallabies, llams, exotic water fowl, lemurs, macaws, capybaras (the biggest rats in the world). Heavily wooded, it is the stronghold of the Red Squirrel, and has a well established Rookery. It is also home to the rare Golden Eagle. Interactive Touch Screens: These state of the art multi media touch screens, take the traveller on their own personal tour of the Park. Browse in German through the managed wetlands, or in French through the lakes the screens provide a fun way of armchair travelling. The Audio Visual : The 17 minute audio visual presentation takes you back through the ages, the evolution of the landscape from the pre-ice age, Jurassic Cretaceous era, 250 million years ago to the present day.
